The iPad 2 is no longer a mystery, but the iPhone 5 is still heavily veiled in secrecy. With Apple refusing to
give out updates about this highly anticipated mobile phone slash revolutionary technological invention, rumors are
spreading like wildfire and gadget gizmos are blogging relentlessly about what to expect. With so much theories and
baseless expectations to sift through, getting to the solid facts is becoming more and more difficult.
Whats certain, however, is that Apple is ready to move on from its
4.X incremental updates to a blazing fast 5, heightening expectations as people
begin to look forward to a better, and bigger iPhone rehash. Here's separating fact from fiction. Feast your
eyes on the upcoming iPhone 5. Here's what you should expect.
The Design
Apples professional design maestros have a penchant on shaving off millimetres to come up with sleeker and more streamlined devices. According to
sources, the iPhone 5 will sport an iPhone 4-like body coupled with a smooth, curvy backplate, making it look more stylish and professional. The iPhone 5 will look
significantly sexier with its trimmed down appearance. If there's anything certain about the iPhone 5, its
the size, and its going to be deliciously slimmer.
As for the screen, there's a bit of a ruckus going on about Apples chosen size for the iPhone 5. A rumor going
around suggests that the iPhone 5 might sport a bigger screen, aggressively going against 3.5 screen that the
iPhone is used to. This should be a major departure from the regular iPhone, but a larger screen will ultimately
lead to a better iPhone. A Chinese site claims to have acquired leaked information about the iPhone
5s engineering specifications, showing what is confirmed to be a larger screen.
The screen will enlarge but the body stays the same, which means that the screen will reach edge-to-edge,
boosting the display size while still keeping the same sized body. If Apple can make the screen larger
without sacrificing the size of the iPhone, it would be perfect. In addition to this, skinny jeans don't look
like they're going to be out of trend any time soon, and the iPhone 5 could be skinny jeans friendly.
The Memory
Another rumor spreading like wildfire is about iPhone 5's internal storage space. According to Chinese
engineering samples, an iPhone 4 with a massive space of 64 GB of onboard flash memory was found. This directly
equates to Apple already considering the development if an iPhone with a higher capacity. If you kept your ears
peeled on tech news, you'll realize that hardware limitations weren't the reason why Apple chose
32GB instead of 64GB with their iPhone 4. The iPod touch and the iPad already acquired this
amount of space, but today, it would be awesome if the iPhone had them. A bigger amount of internal storage
space could be something certain about the iPhone 5, for some people, especially those who are application
freaks, are living day by day at the edge of their already massive 32GB.
The Processor
iPad 2 users are already enjoying Apples dual-core A5 system compressed on a single chip. There's a huge chance the iPhone 5 will
take on this trend and use the dual-core A5 processor as well. The inclusion of Apples A5 processor on the iPhone 5 could be one of the most certain things to expect
about it. It wont be the first dual-core phone in the world, but since its the iPhone, its bound to be the
best. Numerous developers have obtained evidence that the iPhone 5 will be equipped with the
A5 chip using the iOS 4.3 firmware code. Apple doesn't usually go into detailed discussion about
their onboard ram but since the iPhone 4 had 512MB and the iPad has 256Mb, there's a large chance that the iPhone 5 could have 1GB.
The White iPhone
Straight from the mouth of Apple office Phil Schiller who tweeted information from a raging Apple fan, the
iPhone 5 will indeed have a white version to break its usual black. Apple seems to be very comfortable nowadays in
creating white devices and have cracked problems about white-painted glass, as made evident with the white iPad 2.
Though a white version is certain, one question still remains. Will Apple release the white iPhone even before
the dawn of the iPhone 5, or will it be revealed once again at the WWDC keynote? there's no saying, but one things for certain. People who want a
break away from black can switch with white.
The Dual Mode iPhone
Though its too early to say, there's a small chance that the iPhone 5 has a dual-mode feature instead of giving
out separate iPhone 5s for both AT&T and Verizon. Researchers have discovered that a particular
cellular network chip that's used in some Verizon iPhones is compatible with the dual-mode feature, and Apple
could actually use this in the iPhone 5. However, the iPad 2 just recently released doesn't have dual mode
communications, so there's a large possibility that the iPhone 5 will not have this as well. It might be far
from being possible, but its far from being impossible as well.
With the iPhone 5 launch getting nearer and nearer, there's one thing you can safely expect. Rumors are going to
blow like a wild volcano, and very little things are certain.
